How to hire Concrete contractors

Working With Contractors Step-by-Step

save money and headaches by reading these best practices

As a certifed concrete company in the Treasure Valley, we can network and subcontract a variety of construction or landscape work to accomplish your goal and save you time. Due to the variety of colors, textures and concrete finishes, we work closely with you or your designers.

Like grandpa says, "An hour planning is never wasted"

1

Search the web for colors, textures, and patterns for your concrete project. The more info you provide to us, the more satisfied you will be with the results. (Check our website for a variety of ideas: Concrete Photos)

2

Measure in square feet the size of your project; for example: 12' x 20'. If working around curves, estimate larger rather than smaller, because it's better to have extra concrete rather than be short.

3

Contact a few local concrete contractors, be prepared to answer these questions:

  • What style of concrete: plain, stamped, textured or stained?
  • What is the size? (see number 2 above)
  • New concrete or remove old?
  • Access issues like fences, trees, private property, etc.? Think about how the concrete is going to get or be produced at the site.
  • How soon? Are you talking ASAP, weeks, or months of needing a new concrete patio.
  • IMPORTANT: Be sure to note the timeliness response and professionalism of your contractors. (We pride ourselves on being prompt and courteous)

4

Compare estimates, verify construction procedures, start dates and job duration. (NOTE: decorative concrete can't be rushed. Plus outdoor projects are weather dependent, but we will do our best to stay on schedule.)

5

Check if samples are available or can be made available. Ask about guarantees-- at Lenz we guarantee your satisfaction..

6

Ask for references and check the Better Business Bureau (click for our review)

7

Get all important matters in writing, agree to the payment terms, and sign the contract.

8

Approve the samples, pay the contractor as agreed, and stay in close communication with your concrete company. (You can reach Lenz Custom Concrete at 989-6119)

9

Enjoy your new flooring, patio or concrete driveway!

How much concrete do I need?

Guess What, Concrete Cracks!

Let's face it, the ground under your feet is constantly moving. In the past year the surface in Idaho has probably shifted .25 to 1 inch. Hiring a professional concrete contractor, like Lenz Custom Concrete, will help minimize cracks. Most cracks are planned, it's what we call a joint.

We will design joints in your concrete construction so the cement slab will crack where we planned. No concrete contractor can prevent chips or cracks, but we will do our best to keep you satisfied so your concrete patio lasts a very long time.
